We know living through a global pandemic can be extremely stressful and it’s easy to slip into bad habits, lose a positive mindset and let your personal health take a back seat. We’re here to help! Here are a few practical tips from the REBEL team on how to stay healthy during these challenging times:
1. Maintain a daily routine
Even though your daily schedule may look very different now to what it did 6 months ago, it doesn’t mean your entire routine has to fall apart. Make sure you aim to go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day and target at least 7 to 9 hours every night. Even if you’re working from home and not going to the office, try to create boundaries so you still have time for yourself, your family and your friends. Take a 10 min break from your calls, take a walk and stretch out your body!
2. Move your body everyday
Moving your body everyday has many proven benefits ranging from heightened energy levels, better cardiovascular health and increased overall confidence. Particularly during these challenging time, it’s important to keep both your body and mind fit and healthy. Of course movement looks different to different people, the main thing is to just get started! For some this could be a 45 minute High Intensity workout and for others, simply a short 10 minute walk outside. One of our favorite ways to move at REBEL is a dance cardio program called HIIT THE BEAT, by local trainer Hans Braga.
3. Eat to feel good and boost your immunity
Let food be your medicine. Eating a whole food based balanced diet can be the key to living an overall happy and healthy life. During these uncertain times our diet is one thing we can control to look after our bodies; try to feed it with as many vitamins and minerals as possible. One of our favorite healthy food recipes which will give you a hit of nutrients without breaking the bank is a Tropical Smoothie Bowl combining Banana, Pineapple, Coconut & Mango altogether in a perfect refreshing bowl. Check out this healthy recipe and many more coming to the REBEL App soon.
4. Take time to relax
Living during a global pandemic and GCQ can create a lot of stress and anxiety. It’s important to take some time out of your day to be present and clear your mind. If you haven’t tried meditation before, this can be one way to give you mental clarity and deal with the sometimes chaotic life around us. You can check out a ‘Meditation to Reduce Stress & Anxiety’ by our resident meditation practitioner Nick Daez to help you take control of your emotions.
5. Stay in touch with your loved ones
Sometimes the best way to keep your body and mind happy is to feel the love and stay connected to those around you. Whether it’s people living under the same roof or relatives and friends afar, technology now makes it easier than ever to stay connected to those closest to you.
